Sorrryyyyy...

Oh goodness... just realized I have not posted on this in ages. I am sosososo sorry. I've been out a lot lately so I've unfortunately been missing church and then I haven't been able to make it out to youth much either. :( Plus school has been crazy. Between normal work, some tests, projects, and my ILC (independent learning course as in I am taking a law course online) I've been WAY too busy. XD I haven't been even updating my personal blog. XD However, this Tuesday, I am DETERMINED to get to youth. It's the start of a new series that I really wanna' hear bc I kind of need it atm.

So, sorry again!

Tty all later!

Youth on October 3rd 2012

Hey, everyone! So, yesterday's lesson was the end of the two-part lesson that started last week. This was the lesson on Salvation and how it requires that we live a life of holiness.

1 Peter 1:13-21
"13 Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. 14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” 17 Since you call on a Father who judges each man’s work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God."

We need to prepare our minds for action (verse 13). Jesus is coming at some point. We don't know when that is, but we need to be ready for it. We need to be ready to face the sin and the temptation that will enter our lives so that we do not fall away from God because of them. We also need to remember to have an eternal perspective on everything. Our ultimate goal is not on earth, but in heaven. When we die or are taken up in the rapture, it won't matter that we had a fight with a friend or our boyfriend/girlfriend broke up with us; what will matter is where our hearts were, whether they with God or not.

We need to be like God from the inside out (verses 14-16). We are not supposed to still follow the temptations and desires of this world; we need to be more like Christ. Or, as verses 15 to 16 clearly say, we need to be HOLY. That change needs to start on the inside. If we act like it on the outside but our inside is still corrupt, it will begin to show. We need to ensure that we change our hearts and then it will reflect on our outward appearance (as in who we look like to other people, whether we look like a Christian or not by our actions).

Finally we need to respect God's amazing power (verses 17-21). We need to have some fear of Him because of how great He is. He is not one we should be testing because we need to respect His power. God created EVERYTHING. THAT is how powerful He is. He also saves us with an ETERNAL power. All we can do when it comes to God is beg for forgiveness.

Well, that sounds like a sad note to end on, but it's not. We can only beg Him for forgivenes... yet He already forgave us because of His love for us. :)

That's all for now! I'm praying for anyone who reads this. Hopefully God will speak to them through it.

God bless! YOU ARE LOVED!
