October 20th

October 20th -- Acts 19:1-19

Please read the passage!

God's name isn't some sort of spell. Nor is Jesus'. Nor is the Holy Spirit's. It's not like we can just say that we command or demand something in their name and all of a sudden it's the trump card of life and we get it. That's not how it works. These Jews who heard about Paul seemed to think it was like that. So, they tried it. However, they ended up in a pretty bad spot (being attacked by a possessed man) for trying it. All of a sudden, after this event, everybody realized that. It seems that over time, though, we have forgotten it. We throw around God's name like it's nothing, sometimes. We have to be SO careful not to do that. For one, it's sin. For two, it's dangerous. For three, there are seriously far more creative and godly things we could use instead. So don't go throwing His name around and calling attention to your self. As they say, "Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it." Just ask the seven sons of Sceva.

God bless! Shalom!
